   Résumé
   Tracy Lord, une «aristocrate» de l'Est, doit épouser en secondes noces George Hidderidge, plébéien enrichi. Son premier mari, C.W. Dexter Haven, s'ingénie à faire avorter le projet en proposant ses services à l'éditeur d'une feuille à scandales. Un couple de reporters composé d'une photographe et d'un brillant écrivain sans le sou est introduit fallacieusement dans la somptueuse demeure des Lord. Après une bonne nuit où la déesse Tracy est successivement déboulonnée par son père et le sympathique écrivain (qui s'éprend pourtant de la belle héritière), Tracy donne son congé à George et se remarie avec son premier époux.
   Commentaire
   Plus qu'un simple film charnière, Indiscrétions est à la fois l'aboutissement de la comédie américaine et la matrice d'un romanesque dont les productions n'ont pas encore fini d'être marquées. Production étonnante réunissant les plus grands interprètes du genre sous la double baguette des meilleurs sorciers de Hollywood (Cukor et Mankiewicz, le producteur), c'est l'un des rares films à pouvoir s'intituler «classique» d'un bout à l'autre et ce, à tous les stades de la réalisation.
